Text Box: 	It is common for parents to wonder if their teen is using drugs or drinking alcohol given the mood swings so common with adolescence.   Parents should be mindful of the signs of depression, withdrawal, carelessness, hostility and defiance. These signs may or may not be related to drug abuse and drinking.  However, the following signs may be indicators that drug use or drinking is occurring:  
Negative changes in school; declining grades, increased absences, or negative changes in academic performances
Increased secrecy about possessions and activities
Use of room/vehicle deodorizers

Increase in borrowing money
Evidence of drug paraphernalia

Over-use of inhalants such as cleaning supplies , hairspray or certain medications
Increased use of eye drops to relieve red eyes.
Increased use of mouthwash and mouth deodorizers
 Missing medications from your house
