Arrival Times
Students may arrive at school no earlier than 7:45 AM and no later than 8:00 AM.

Pick-Up Times
Our car pick-up line begins at 2:30 PM and ends at 2:45 PM. All students should be picked up no later than 2:45 PM.

Uniforms
Students are required to wear uniforms on a daily basis. Our students wear either red, white, or gray collared shirts. Their bottoms, whether shorts, pants, skorts, jumpers, or skirts, must be khaki or tan in color and fit appropriately. Tennis shoes and fully enclosed shoes toe to heel may be worn. Slides, crocs, clogs, Heelys, or shoes with lights or wheels are prohibited. Outerwear such as coats, jackets, sweaters, sweater vests, and sweatshirts must be a school color or a combination of school colors. Additional details of the dress code will be provided to each student in the Code of Conduct that is sent home at the beginning of the school year.

Meals
Both breakfast and lunch are served daily. Students also have the option of bringing lunch from home. However, any outside food brought from a restaurant may not be brought in its original packaging.

Snacks
Students are given the opportunity to enjoy a snack in the afternoon. Students may bring a healthy snack from home.

Cost
There is no cost for attending the Pre-K Program.

Transportation
Transportation is not provided for our Pre-K students to and from school.

Pre-K Curriculum
All classes participate in an age-appropriate curriculum based upon the Alabama Standards for Early Learning and Development. This curriculum focuses on the main domains of (1) Family and Community Engagement (2) Social Emotional Development (3) Social Studies (4) Approaches to Play and Learning (5) Science Exploration and Knowledge (6) Mathematical Thinking (7) Language and Literacy (8) Creative Arts and (9) Physical Development and Health. These domains provide guidance for both large and small group instruction as well as interest-based centers. Students are also provided ample opportunities for movement and gross motor skill development through regular play and organized physical education.

Attendance
Because the program is based upon Alabama Standards for Early Learning and Development, students are expected to attend the Pre-K program on a daily basis. Daily attendance helps ensure that your student is given every opportunity to gain a greater knowledge of these standards in order to help prepare them for the future.

Parental Involvement
Parents are vital to the educational success of their children. Our Pre-K program works hand-in-hand with parents to help students build a foundation to expand upon in the future. We help create opportunities for at-home and at-school parental involvement. Parents are required to complete a minimum of 12 hours of parental involvement. These hours can include attending parent meetings, teacher conferences, classroom celebrations, school programs such as Veteran’s Day and Grandparent’s Day, helping your child complete take-home projects, and volunteering to read to your child’s class. A Yearly Family Engagement Letter will be sent home at the beginning of the year that highlights all the opportunities that will be available during the school year for our families to be a part of.
